VUA General Meeting, September 2-4, University of Debrecen, Hungary

The meeting organized at  the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, University of Debrecen, Hungary was attended by almost 40 representatives of VUA member universities and institutions.
General Meeting was opened by  Prof. Akos Pinter, Vice-rector of the University of Debrecen, VUA President Prof. Peter Bielik and Prof. Istvan Komlosi Dean of the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, University of Debrecen.

President Bielik evaluated the association activities and introduced the plans of Visegrad University Association for the upcoming period. General Meeting approved the VUA Annual Report as well the Proposal of activities for  2019. During 2018,  new universities applied for VUA membership. Two of them were approved by the General Meeting and we  would like to congratulate and welcome them to our association:

University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences Brno, Czech Republic

Traditionally, VUA AWARD OF EXCELLENCE was awarded to a VUA member university based on the results of the election of the General Meeting. The award went to Russian State Agrarian University-Moscow Timiryazev Agricultural Academy as the appreciation of active participation in VUA activities. The award was presented by Prof. Peter Bielik and Prof. Istvan Komlosi to Dr. Galina Zolina, Rector of RSAU-MTAA

Presentations of invited speakers provided the GM participants with valuable information on the topic of Accomodating new methods and topics in Agricultural Higher Education.                                                           Dr. Susanne Lehnert  (Universit of Bonn) gave a speech titled  “The One Health Concept in the Curriculum”. Prof. Tibor Mezei (Szent Istvan University) presented a topic “The Internet of Things in Agricultural Education, the Gödöllő example” and Dr Csaba Fogarassy (Szent Istvan University) prepared a presentation “The Implemetation of the Circular Economy Concept in the Curricula”.

VUA Presidency would like to the Faculty of Agricultural and Food Sciences and Environmental Management, University of Debrecen for a perfect organization of the event and all the participants of the General Meeting for their fruitful contribution.
